Subtasks

Use subtasks to breakdown work in smaller pieces.

Overview

Consider creating subtask when a set of work is too large to be a single task but too small to be a project. Subtasks are also ideal for splitting up work shared across teammates. When you add a subtask to another task, the other task becomes its "parent".

We treat subtasks and their parent tasks as representing unique units of work. A subtask is related to its parent, but they do not share properties and do not sum up or aggregate properties. A subtask has its own own duration, assignee, label(s), etc that is unrelated to the parent task and vice versa.

Basics

Creation of subtasks

You create a subtask in a task page by clicking on Subtasks +. A field will then appear below, where you fill out relevant information. Once created, the task will appear as its on row, and redirect you to its own page when clicked.
